Community Service
Stephanie Alexander's Kitchen Garden Project at Collingwood College
Original Foods® supplies organic chicken frames to Collingwood College so that the school children can make premium organic chicken stock at their kitchen, using the vegetables grown in the school's edible garden.
Stock made from organic chicken frames produces more gelatin than stock made from non-organic and non-free range birds. It is the gelatin content that gives chicken stock one of its main health qualities.
Victorian Association for Environmental Education (VAEE)

SecondBite for those in need of a feed
SecondBite's vision is to help bridge the gap between surplus and need.
Original Foods® supplies food stuffs to SecondBite when we can.
According to Ian Carson, Chairman of SecondBite, a report by the Australian Institute in 2005 was estimated that Australia's total food wastage was worth $5.3 billion a year, and the 2001 census recorded 23,713 people as 'homeless' in Victoria on any given night.
"There is no shortage of people in need or food to feed them, only the delivery model and the infrastructure to serve the need," Mr Carson said.
SecondBite is committed to making a positive difference to people by identifying sources of surplus food and produce, that would otherwise go to waste, and facilitating its safe and timely distribution to agencies and people in need.
